Looks like a H grade to me.

E Grade was based on LACA appraisal a few days ago.

This is an inherited gun, for which I have no expertise; relying on the LACA.

I think I see an “H” on the water table

E grades will be engraved and not have twist barrels

I also see the “H” and the lack of engraving and what appear to be twist barrels are features of “H” grade guns.

Appreciate all your input – as stated, i know nothing about Lever Arms guns.

Serial Number is clearly  42524 H

Barrels are mirror like – no twist (if you mean rifling)

Where would the “engraving” be ?

Twist is the method of making the barrels.  Damascus has a number of bands forged together, while Twist is a band wound around a mandrel.  Fluid steel (most often sourced from Krupp) will show no pattern.

For examples of very fine engraving, so back to the front page of the web site and look at the guns which scroll across the top.    Your gun has none; a typical E grade would have an image of a dog on each side plate with a bit of scenery, a dogs head on the trigger bow, and a line border around each side plate.
